Maddie Wanamaker, a two-time U.S. Olympian, joined the Washington coaching staff prior to the 2024-25 season.

In her new role, she helped lead Washington to an historic season as the Huskies moved to the Big Ten Conference. In their first year in their new league, the Huskies swept the Big Ten Championships, winning all seven grand finals. UW was just the second program ever to sweep the Big Ten Championships.

Washington went on to finish fourth at 2025 NCAA Championships.

A native of Neenah, Wisc., Wanamaker attended the University of Wisconsin, where she walked on to the rowing team. As a junior and senior, she rowed in the Badgers' varsity eight, earning second-team All-Big Ten in 2017.

After graduating, she went on to a long and successful career with the U.S. National Team. After having competed at World Rowing Under 23 Championships in 2016 and 2017, she made her senior team debut in 2018, capping her first season with a gold medal in the four at World Championships.

At the 2020 Olympics, she rowed in the American four that finished first in the B final. In 2022, she returned to the medal stand, earning bronze in the women's pair at 2022 World Championships, where she also rowed in the U.S. eight.
