Gibran Campos enters his third season on Jessa Hansen Parker's Washington coaching staff, serving as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Dawgs.
Campos brings deep ties to the California club gymnastics scene, having worked with SCEGA Gymnastics, Airborne Gymnastics, and Winners Gymnastics over the last decade-plus.
Before joining Washington, Campos served as the head coach at SCEGA Gymnastics in Temecula, California, beginning in 2020. With the club, he oversaw the compulsory and optional programs, which consisted of more than 100 athletes. In addition to his coaching duties, Campos was responsible for staff training, yearly reviews, rotation scheduling, parent communication, and recruiting coordination.
At SCEGA, Campos coached multiple athletes to national championships and helped guide numerous gymnasts to regionals and state titles. SCEGA was named the Southern California Optional Program of the Year in 2023 and 2024 and earned a top-3 finish at every optional level at the 2023 Southern California State Championship.
Throughout his coaching career, Campos coached several standout gymnasts who went on to compete at the collegiate level, including U.S. Junior National Team member Nola Matthews, who competed at UCLA; Amari Celestine, who competed at Mizzou; Alysen Fears, who competed at Arizona; and Avalon Campbell, who competed at Arkansas.
Campos also coached current GymDawg Kristin Lin and Elena Brian during their club careers before reuniting with them at Washington.
Campos also previously served as team coach with SCEGA Gymnastics from 2015-17.
Prior to returning to SCEGA, Campos served as an optional coach for Airborne Gymnastics in Santa Clara, California, from 2017-20. He coached Level 6 through Elite on vault and beam while assisting Levels 6-10 on uneven bars and floor exercise, working with national qualifiers as well as numerous regional and state champions.
With Airborne Gymnastics, Campos coached 2019 USA Junior National Team member Kaliya Lincoln, who went on to sign a national letter of intent with LSU and earn a spot as a non-travelling alternate with the 2024 USA Olympic Team.
Campos began his coaching career with Winners Gymnastics in Chino, California, serving at the club from 2010-14. There, he coached Level 4-7 athletes in all four events and assisted with routine composition for Level 8-10 athletes. Campos also coordinated team camps for the club.
Campos earned a bachelor’s degree in media studies and journalism from California State University, San Bernardino, in 2014.
