Jennifer Kerr made a major impact in just one year as a player for the Huskies, and Head Coach Robin Stephenson is betting that Kerr has more to give to the program as a coach. Kerr wrapped her first season as a coach in 2023-24, coming off a senior season in 2023 where she led the Huskies with 19 dual singles wins.
In her first season as a coach in the 2023-24 season, Kerr helped the Dawgs to a 17-11, a run to the NCAA Tournament and a No. 3 Northwest Regional final team ranking. Four Huskies earned All-Pac-12 honors during the 2023-24 season with Astrid Olsen and Alexia Jacobs earning Second Team honors and Erika Matsuda and Melissa Sakar earning honorable mention. Olsen and Jacobs finished the 2023-24 season ranked No. 3 in the Northwest doubles final rankings and 8th and 9th in the singles rankings, respectively.
Kerr on joining the Washington coaching staff: "I'm really excited to continue forging my relationship with this amazing team. This coaching position is an opportunity to try a new role in an environment I'm intimately familiar with as a player. I'm not done contributing to Husky Tennis quite yet!"
After spending five seasons at Columbia, where she was an All-Ivy League First Team player for the Lions, Kerr joined the Huskies for her final season of eligibility, taking postbaccalaureate studies. She went 25-8 overall on the year, and 19-6 at the No. 4 singles spot, helping UW reach the NCAA Championships second round and finish the season ranked No. 21 nationally. Kerr had an individual singles ranking high of No. 93, and earned All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention.
Kerr is a native of Carlsbad, Calif. and earned her Bachelors in Neuroscience and Behavior at Columbia.
