Ben Hise comes to the UW women's crew staff as an intern assistant for the 2015-16 season.
Hise rowed for four years at UC Irvine, stroking the varsity eight for three years and was the team captain of the crew his junior and senior years. Upon graduation, he coached the UC Irvine novice men for one season and then took over as the men's head varsity coach at UCI his second year coaching. In 2013, Hise led the men's varsity eight to the first WIRA victory in 21 years (1992).
In 2014, Hise led the Newport Aquatic Center's (NAC) men's lightweight eight to a second place finish at the regional championship as well as a second place finish at the USRowing Youth National Championship.
In 2015 he took over as the head women's coach at NAC and led the lightweight eight to the Southwest Regional Championship for the first time in NAC history. The varsity eight took third at regionals to advance to the USRowing Youth Nationals, as NAC was the only girls program in the region to send both eight to USRowing Youth Nationals.
