Kevin Cummings, who spent three seasons as wide receivers coach under head coach Jedd Fisch at Arizona, enters his second season at Washington in 2025.
In his first season on Montlake, Cummings guided the Husky wide receivers to combine for 202 receptions for 2,407 yards and 18 touchdowns led by Big Ten honorable mention Denzel Boston. Boston's nine receiving touchdowns tied for the eighth-most in UW history and ranked 20th in the FBS. The Husky offense finished third in the nation in completion percentage (.724).
In 2023, as the Wildcats surged to a terrific 10-3 season capped by a win over Oklahoma in the Valero Alamo Bowl, Cumming coached one of the nation's top wide receiver duos in Tetairoa McMillan and Jacob Cowing, who each caught 90 passes and double-digit touchdowns.
McMillan finished fifth in the nation in both receiving yards and yards per game and tied for ninth in the nation (alongside Cowing) in receptions per game. Cowing was also sixth in FBS with 13 touchdown receptions, while McMillan was 16th. McMillan was a second-team All-Pac-12 selection and Cowing earned honorable mention.
Arizona's passing offense ranked No. 8 in the nation, while the team's passing efficiency ranked No. 10.
In 2022, the Arizona Wildcats wide receivers had breakout seasons led by transfer Cowing, who recorded 85 receptions marking the third-most in a single season in program history, at the time. Cowing also was one of two receivers to top 1,000 receiving yards (1,034). It marked the first time in program history that the Arizona Wildcats had two receivers surpass the 1,000 receiving yard mark in a single season. WR Dorian Singer led the team with 1,105 receiving yards, marking a career high and he was third on the team in receiving touchdowns (6).
McMillan his freshman season with 39 catches for 702 yards and eight touchdowns. His 702 yards were the most ever by an Arizona freshman and his yardage and eight touchdown catches were tops among all FBS true freshmen during the regular season.
In 2022, Arizona was 6th in the nation in passing offense, averaging 318.4 passing yards per game, and finished 21st in total offense with 461.9 total yards per game.
That year, Arizona's offense was among the most improved in the nation over the previous season. Arizona went from the 124th in the nation in scoring offense in 2021 to 48th (30.8 ppg) in 2022. Similarly, Arizona rose to 21st in the NCAA in total offense in 2022 after finishing 101st the year prior.
Singer earned All-Pac-12 second-team honors, while Cowing earned Honorable Mention.
In his first season leading the Wildcats wideouts in 2021, Cummings produced three receivers that hauled in 20+ receptions. The group was led by standout Stanley Berryhill III, who led the team in receptions (83) and yards (744) while earning All-Pac-12 honors. Wide receivers BJ Casteel (33) and Boobie Curry (21) also pulled in more than 20 catches.
Cummings also played a key role in building Arizona's 2022 signing class that ranked second in the Pac-12 (22nd nationally) and included the first five-star signee in program history.
Cummings went to Arizona after having spent four years at San Jose State. The Spartans finished the 2020 season with a mark of 7-1 while ranking in the top three of the Mountain West in total offense and passing. SJSU receiver Bailey Gaither earned All-Mountain West first team while Tre Walker was a second-team selection.
Spartan wide receivers were productive during the 2019 season as well under Cummings' guidance, accounting for 216 receptions and 17 touchdowns. Walker was a first-team All-MW selection in 2019, and SJSU's receivers helped propel the team to the top passing attack in the conference that year.
Prior to his arrival in San Jose, Cummings spent three seasons as a quality control coach at Oregon State, where he played as a wideout for the Beavers from 2011 to 2013.
Cummings played 33 games over three years in Corvallis, finishing his career with 52 catches for 627 yards and four touchdowns. He played in bowl games in 2012 and 2013 while at OSU.
After graduating from Oregon State in 2014 with a degree in business entrepreneurship, Cummings spent the 2014 season playing professionally with the Edmonton Eskimos and Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League.
Cummings is a Los Angeles native who was an all-league performer for Crespi High School. He and his wife, Nellie, have a daughter, Malia.
