2025 Outdoors: Made her first career NCAA Outdoor Championships, qualifying in the 5,000-meters β¦ at NCAAs in Eugene, finished 19th overall in the 5k final to earn All-America Honorable Mention, running 15:59.27 β¦ qualified for first nationals by placing third in her 5k heat at NCAA Prelims in 15:54.92 β¦ at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships, made the 1,500m final but was knocked down in the race and placed 12th, but then she doubled back impressively later that day and took fourth in the 5,000-meters final in 15:43.30 β¦ second in the 1,500m at the OSU High Performance Meet in 4:15.89 β¦ opened the outdoor season running 15:44.39 for 5k at the Stanford Invitational β¦ Summer: A huge victory at the World University Games in July, competing in Germany for France, winning gold in the 5,000-meters in a new PR of 15:34.57 to go to No. 6 in school history β¦ also raced at the European U23 Championships for France, placing fourth in the 5k in 16:00.62 β¦ popped a big PR in the 1,500m at the Morton Games in Ireland, running 4:10.03 β¦ ran a 5k on June 28 of 15:39.97 at the National Meet de Carquefou.
2025 Indoors: Earned her first All-America First Team honor, running the lead-off leg on the distance medley relay at NCAA Indoors, which placed eighth in 11:02.31 β¦ opened the indoor season with a 5k best of 15:55.05 at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Opener in December, going to No. 8 in school history β¦ ran an indoor 3k PR of 9:05.87 at the Husky Classic, No. 10 in school history β¦ lowered her mile PR to 4:36.66 at the UW Invitational β¦ at Big Ten Indoors, anchored the DMR to a fifth-place finish, and then placed 8th in the 3,000m in 9:15.40.
2024 Cross Country: One of the top runners for the Dawgs as the team placed 13th overall at the national championships and second at Big Tens β¦ was the No. 2 finisher for UW at four of five races β¦ at NCAAs in Wisconsin, finished 73rd overall, second on the team, in 20:25 β¦ second on the team and 17th overall at West Regionals β¦ earned First Team All-Big Ten honors with a ninth-place finish at the conference meet, second on the squad, in 19:39 β¦ helped UW win the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational with a 12th-place finish, second on the squad β¦ was 41st overall at Pre-Nationals, the No. 4 scorer β¦ named to the Fall Academic All-Big Ten Team.
2024 Track: Lowered her PRs in multiple events and was top-20 at NCAA Prelims in the 5k β¦ after the end of the collegiate season, competed several times in Europe, including taking third at the French U23 Championships 1,500-meters final β¦ set a 3,000-meters PR of 8:59.06 in July at Cork City Sports in Ireland, going to No. 4 in school history β¦ dropped a big 1,500-meters PR of 4:13.56 at the Portland Track Festival β¦ was 19th in the 5k at NCAA West Prelims, running 16:18.72 β¦ made the 1,500-meter final at the Pac-12 Championships, placing 10th in the final, and then came back to place 15th in the 5k β¦ was ninth in the 5k at the Penn Relays in 15:59.01, and was 7th in the 4x1500-meter relay β¦ ran a 5,000-meters PR of 15:57.24 at the Stanford Invitational β¦ indoors, had a 3k best of 9:13.16 at the Ken Shannon Last Chance meet β¦ season-best mile indoors of 4:41.77 at the UW Invitational β¦ named to both the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team and the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll.
2023 Cross Country: Scored in every meet for the Huskies as they won the Pac-12 and earned a top-10 national finish β¦ a great run at NCAAs in Virginia, placing 58th overall (20:17) and third on the team to help the Huskies finish 8th in the nation β¦ helped UW capture its first Pac-12 title since 2009 with a 10th-place finish, third on the squad, in 19:37, earning All-Pac-12 Second Team honors β¦ earned All-West Region honors with a 25th-place finish at West Regionals, fourth on the team β¦ was the No. 2 scorer at the Wisconsin Invitational, placing 50th overall β¦ third on the team and 30th overall at the season-opening Virginia Invitational in 16:56 for 5k, her first cross country race in two years β¦ earned a spot on the Pac-12 Fall Academic Honor Roll β¦ named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
2023 Track: Made a return to racing after coming back from an ACL injury, competing unattached outdoors β¦ started with a 1,500-meters at the Payton Jordan Invitational on Apr. 22, going 4:30.33 β¦ improved her next time out to 4:23.58 at the Portland Distance Carnival on May 13, and then on June 4 ran a 4:20.88 at the Portland Track Festival β¦ named to the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll.
2022 Cross Country: Redshirted the fall.
2022 Track: Strong freshman season was cut short by an injury suffered in practice prior to the Pac-12 Championships β¦ posted a 1,500-meters PR of 4:19.70 at the Bryan Clay Invitational β¦ ran first career steeplechase in a winning effort at the UW-WSU Dual, going 10:28.18 β¦ indoors, redshirted the season, competing four times unattached β¦ had a mile PR of 4:40.96 at the Husky Classic
2021 Cross Country: Raced three times in her first fall season β¦ ran at the Pac-12 Championships, placing 42nd overall and eighth on the team in a time of 21:59 β¦ was sixth on the squad and 175th overall at the Wisconsin Invitational, crossing in 21:49 β¦ at the season-opening Joe Piane Invite, was 86th in 17:21 for 5k, the sixth Husky finisher.
High School and Personal: Born in Seattle β¦ parents are Saturnina David and Robert Smith β¦ older sister, Camila, also runs track and cross country for the Huskies β¦ one of the top distance runners in the country, winning the 2019 Washington 4A state cross country title, and winning the 2020 Coaches Association Virtual State Meet in 2020 β¦ a two-time Nike Cross Nationals competitor in 2018 and 2019, placing 28th in 2018 as a sophomore and 18th in 2019 as a junior β¦ ran a mile time of 4:50.59 at the 2021 Outdoor Nationals in July β¦ took seventh at the 2021 Brooks PR Invitational in the 2-mile, running 10:19.58 β¦ ran the mile at the 2019 Brooks PR Invite and was 14th in 4:53.53 β¦ at the last standard outdoor state track meet, in 2019, won the 1,600-meters title in 4:50.35 and took second in the 3,200-meters in 10:21.15 β¦ seventh at the 2019 New Balance Indoor Nationals in the mile in 4:50.92 β¦ third at state in the 1,600m and the 3,200m and ran on winning 4x400m relay as a freshman in 2018 β¦ twice named teamβs βmost inspirationalβ β¦ also lettered in varsity basketball and earned teamβs determination award.
