Brittany Werre has been a leader on and off the field for the Huskies throughout her career. In her second year as the president of the Washington Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Werre has helped all of Washington's student-athletes get the most out of their college experiences. She has already graduated with a degree in journalism with a minor in political science and has embodied the academic excellence of Husky Softball for four years.
On the field, Werre has been a key bench cog, serving mostly as a pinch-hitter off the bench. She has hit over .300 twice in her career. As a freshman, Werre drove in two runs with a double in just her second career appearance. In 2018, as a junior, Werre doubled again, ripping a line drive against Stanford.
What is your favorite softball memory at UW?
It's easy to say that our trips to the WCWS and visit to Australia are some of my favorite memories from my four years here. The lessons I've learned both on and off the field have been vaulable as well. But the lifelong friendships and relationships I've built with my teammates year in and year out are definitely the most remarkable part of it all. This place and this program are special, unique, and unlike any other. I truly believe the best memory is yet to come.
What message to do you have to the Huskies?
Thank you doesn't feel like a strong enough phrase to justify all that you have done for me. I'm so thankful to have teammates who are truly the most selfless and caring people I have ever met. Whether it's your constant encouragement or motivation to succeed, not a day goes by where I don't feel blessed to know each and every one of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my four years so special. I love you all and I'm excited to keep attacking, one pitch at a time, together.
