Going to Amsterdam was one of the best experiences I have ever had and I am so grateful that UW afforded me this opportunity. If it wasn't for UW, this trip would not have been feasible for me on my own. The fact that the school tailored a study abroad trip for student-athletes speaks volumes in itself about Washington. I had the opportunity to travel with 20 fellow UW student-athletes to Matambú, Costa Rica. During this trip, we fully immersed ourselves in the community while building a sports court so the children can play during the rainy season. Each day we worked, ate, played and lived alongside the community members.Monica Riley
The Purple Passport fund allowed me to travel internationally and to be a student in another culture. Not only was the cultural experience unforgettable, but I was able to connect with my fellow students athletes on a level not feasible elsewhere. I am forever grateful to the donors that made this and so many other international trips possible for UW athletes.
