Prospects & Recruits
NCAA, Big Ten and UW regulations can be complex. The UW wants to provide tips to assist in understanding your eligibility, financial aid, the recruitment and decision-making process, as well as the responsibilities you have as a prospective student-athlete! Prospects and their parents/guardians should review the following regulations before beginning the recruitment process in order to protect your eligibility status. There is nothing more valuable to your student-athlete experience than your athletics eligibility!
Prospective and current student-athletes, their parents/guardians and their relatives may not receive any extra benefits from an agent, anyone associated with an agent, or any University booster/RAI. Doing so could jeopardize a prospective or current student-athlete's eligibility.
For prospects who have not yet started their junior year in high school, please be aware the NCAA has pass new legislation regarding the timing of an unofficial visit (un-paid) to campus. It states, in sports other than basketball and football, that an unofficial visit with athletics department involvement (e.g., contact with athletics department staff, athletics-specific tour, complimentary admission) shall not occur with an individual (or his or her relatives or legal guardians) before September 1 at the beginning of his or her junior year in high school. Therefore, when visiting any Division I institution, if you plan on visiting the athletics department that you visit after September 1 of your junior year in high school.
Those visiting the UW Campus prior to September 1 may not have contact with any athletics department staff (e.g., coaches, directors of operations, etc.). However, if you would like to take an Admissions Tour of UW, we would encourage you to visit Campus Tour + Freshman Information Session site.
