FERPA Notice
FERPA Notice
Under the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act ("FERPA"), 20 U.S.C. § 1232g, its implementing regulations (34 CFR Part 99), and University policy (WAC 478-140), the University is required to provide you with notification of the subpoena before the University can release the requested records in compliance with the subpoena. If you do not have any objections to the release of the records described above, you do not need to respond to this letter or do anything further.
If you wish to object to the release of your records, you (or your attorney) must file a motion to that effect with the court no later than September 14, 2024. If by this date, the University does not receive either a copy of the pending motion to challenge the subpoena or a court order relieving the University of its obligation to comply with the subpoena, the University will release the subpoenaed records. Should you decide to challenge the subpoena (e.g. motion to quash or for a protective order), a copy of any motion or order should be sent to me at the following email address: kstrong1@uw.edu.
If you have any questions about this letter, please contact me at the email address above. Please be advised that the University cannot provide you with any legal advice. If you have any legal questions, you will need to consult your own attorney.
