Huskies Host Pepperdine At Husky Ballpark

Washington (9-4) continues its nine-game, two week homestand with a three-game series against Pepperdine on Friday-Sunday, and concludes it with their final tune-up before Pac-12 play starts with a Tuesday game vs. cross-town rival Seattle University. The Huskies kick off the weekend with a 5:00 p.m. game against Pepperdine. UW All-American Tyler Davis will take the hill first.
Last week, the Huskies went 4-1 with a 6-0 win over Portland and taking three of four against North Dakota. Freshman Noah Bremer was Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week after retiring the first 17 batters he saw in a one-hit, seven inning performance against UND. Braden Bishop was national player of the week by numerous publications after hitting .467 with 2 HR’s, 8 runs, 6 RBI and 6 stolen bases

SERIES HISTORY VS. PEPPERDINE AND SEATTLE U
•Pepperdine: Pepperdine holds the 4-1 advantage in the series. The last time the teams met was a three-game series from April 5-7, 2013. The Huskies won the series opener 6-2, for their only win against the Waves. They lost the second game of the series 1-0 in 11 innings and the final game of the series 4-1. The first time the teams met was on May 24, 1992, which the Huskies lost 11-0 to the eventual national champion Waves at the NCAA West I Regional in Tucson, Ariz.
•Seattle U: UW leads the series 72-50. The last meeting between the teams was May 12, 2014 and the Huskies beat the Redhawks 6-0 at Husky Ballpark, but the Redhawks won the first two games of the series to take the season 2-1. The first meeting between the teams was a two-game series in 1903.

• The Huskies next win will be the 150th of Lindsey Meggs’ Husky coaching career. He is 149-143-1 in six years.
• Jack Meggs enters the weekend with a 7 game hit streak. He also leads the team with 5 multi-hit games.
• Branden Berry is the national leader with 6 sacrifice flies this season. He also leads the Pac-12 in defensive chances (118) and putouts (113).
• Brandon Choate has appeared in a Pac-12 high 8 games. He ranks third with a 0.68 ERA and has allowed 1 earned run in 13.1 innings.
• Tyler Davis needs four strikeouts to break into the UW top-10 career list. He sits at 170. Shawn Kohn is 10th with 174.

He also ranks 7th all-time with 38 starts, is tied for 9th in appearances (64) and is just out of the top-10 for wins and strikeouts.
• Noah Bremer was Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week after tossing 11 innings of scoreless baseball allowing just two hits and picking up his first career win. He was perfect in a 4-1 win over North Dakota on Sunday until giving up a one-out hit in the 7th inning. He struck out a career-best six in that start. He also tossed the first four innings of a 6-0 combined shutout of Portland on Wednesday.
• Braden Bishop was named national player of the week by several publications, including NCAA.com, Louisville Slugger, College Sports Madness and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, after an unbelievable five-game stretch against Portland and North Dakota. He hit .467 (7x15) with 2 HR’s, 8 runs scored, 6 RBI and 6 stolen bases, with a .933 slugging percentage and .571 on-base percentage.
• Washington leads the Pac-12 and are tied for second nationally with 30 doubles. The Huskies are tied for third in the nation with 17 sacrifice bunts.
