Newest Husky Hall of Fame Class Inducted Thursday

Six individuals and two NCAA champion teams officially took their place in the Husky Hall of Fame during induction ceremonies Thursday night at Alaska Airlines Arena.
Mario Bailey (football, 1988-1992), Ja’Warren Hooker (men’s track and field, 1998-2001, football, 1997-1998), Joseph Kearney (administrator, 1969-1976), Anna (Mickelson) Cummins (women’s crew, 1999-2002), Christal Morrison (volleyball, 2004-2007), Dave Williams (football, 1964-1967, men’s track and field 1964-1967), as well as the 2008 women’s cross country team and the 2009 softball team were all introduced in the biannual affair.
Additionally, Stan Pocock, son of legendary boat builder George Pocock who served as both a UW rower and coach, was presented with the Don H. Palmer Award.
Each athlete was given an iconic purple blazer, indicative of their inclusion in this elite group.
"If you look at my purple jacket," said Williams, who still has a number of top-10 UW track marks 50 years later," you'll see a patchwork quilt of all the people who helped get me here."
That was a common sentiment throughout the evening as inductees focused on the influential family members and coaches that helped them along the way.
Robin Kearney spoke on behalf of his late father while Alyson McWherter represented the softball team and Anita Campbell spoke for the cross country team.
