Williams Named Second Team All-America

NORMAN, Okla. -- The PING second, third and honorable mention All-America Teams were announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Thursday and Washington's Chris Williams was named to the second team.
Following the conclusion of stroke play at the end of the NCAA Championships, the first teams were announced. That list included Huskies' sophomore Cheng-Tsung Pan.
Williams, who is making his professional debut Thursday in the Travelers Championship, was first team in 2012, second team in 2011 and third team as a freshman in 2010 when he was also named the top freshman in the nation. He is the first Husky to be named first, second or third team PING All-American four times.
The Moscow, Idaho native was named the recipient of the 2013 Ben Hogan Award in late May and was the 2012 Mark H. McCormack Medal winner. The Hogan Award is given to the player who had the best year in a combination of amateur and collegiate play, while the McCormack Medal goes to amateur golf's top-ranked player.
Williams led Washington with a 70.89 scoring average per round in 2013, the third-best mark all-time. He had seven top-10 finishes and was first or second among Husky golfers in nine events.
He ends his career with a school record six wins and is second all-time with 28 top-10 finishes.
