Austin Voth Junior | RHP Voth, who is scheduled to start Saturday, needs just four more strikeouts to become just the fifth different Husky ever to strike out 100 batters in a season. Tim Lincecum reached 100 Ks three times and Jake Kringen, Jeff Heaverlo and Nick Haughian did it once each. Voth's 96 Ks this season are second-most in the Pac-12. |

THIS WEEKEND: The UW baseball team closes out the 2013 regular season this weekend as No. 19 Arizona State comes to Husky Ballpark for a three-game series. The series will also mark the final three games in the old configuration of Husky Ballpark as construction on the new grandstand begins next week. See below for more on the construction.
Game times this weekend are somewhat unusual, due to television. Friday's opener begins at the regular time, 5:00 p.m. On Saturday, first pitch is 4:00 p.m. and Sunday's finale gets underway at noon. Both of the last two games will air live on Pac-12 Networks television.
UW will send sophomore righty Jared Fisher to the mound in Friday's game. Austin Voth starts on Saturday while Sunday's starter has yet to be determined.
Fans can follow live stats of all three games via the "Gametracker" links on this page. Additionally, a free, live stream of Friday's game will air on the Pac-12 website (follow the link to the right). As mentioned, Saturday and Sunday's games will both be broadcast live on the Pac-12 Networks, as well as the Pac-12's various on-line and mobile platforms.
HISTORY WITH THE SUN DEVILS: Arizona State leads the all-time series vs. Washington with 31 wins and 14 losses. Remarkably, the two teams had never faced one another until the 1998 season, the year before the merger of the Pac-10's two division, when non-conference games between the North and South were mandated by the league (the Huskies played ASU and Cal that season). Last year in Tempe, the Devils won all three games, by final scores of 7-5, 8-4 and 9-6. In 2011 in Seattle, the series resulted in three shutouts with ASU winning the first two, 6-0 and 12-0, before the Huskies won the third, 3-0. Jacob Clem tossed a six-hit complete game on Senior Day at Husky Ballpark for that 3-0 win.
HUSKY BALLPARK CONSTRUCTION: Immediately following the conclusion of the 2013 UW baseball season, construction is scheduled to begin on the new grandstand at Husky Ballpark, which will be completed in time for the 2014 season. The new stadium will include seating for 2,200, a new team performance center, new scoreboard and field turn, new press box and a full compliment of public restrooms and concessions. For more on the new facility, check out huskyballpark.com.
GAME PREVIEWS: GoHuskies.com has done away with the old, traditional "weekly notes" for many sports this academic year, so for the coming baseball season, this will be the manner in which each week's games will be previewed. The hope is that, with all of the links provided (particularly to the team's roster and bios, which will be regularly updated throughout the season, including updated career statistics), that fans will have much more information at their fingertips via this page than they ever had via old-style notes. If you have any thoughts on other links or information that might be included, please click on the "feedback" link at the very bottom of this page and let us know.
