OJAI, Calif. -- Washington women's tennis will have three singles players and one doubles team participate in the Pac-12 Championships, beginning Thursday. Andjela Nemcevic, Grace Ysidora and Elianne Douglas-Miron will participate in the singles tournament, while Douglas-Miron will team with Riko Shimizu in doubles.
Both Nemcevic and Ysidora will play Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. Nemcevic has a tough draw with third-seeded Krista Hardbeck of Stanford, while Douglas-Miron has Sarah Pham of Utah. Later, Ysidora will face Dhany Quevedo of Colorado at 11 a.m.
Each of the Husky players hope to advance to a second-round match that will be played Thursday afternoon. The quarterfinals will be played Friday, the semis on Saturday and the final on Sunday.
In doubles, Douglas-Miron and Shimizu will play on Friday with a first-round match against Courtney Dolehide and Pamela Montez of UCLA. The Husky duo earned its biggest win of the season over the No. 1 team from UCLA back in March. Dolehide and Montez played as UCLA's second team on that day.
In addition to the championships, there is an invitational field where several Huskies will compete. In singles, Brianna Kemp, Natali Coronel and Shimizu are in the field, while in doubles Nemcevic and Lukac and Coronel and Ysidora are in the 16-team field.
The Huskies are ranked No. 42 in the latest ITA poll and will not have another dual match before the NCAA Championships fields are announced. The Dawgs hope the individual matches will keep them fresh for a selection to the NCAA Tournament that will be announced early next week.
