Husky Athletic Training
The mission of the Athletic Training Department at the University of Washington is to provide complete medical services to all Husky student athletes. From illness to orthopedic injury, our 12 Certified Athletic Trainers, six Medical Doctors (4 Primary Care & 2 Orthopedist), Registered Dietician and Sport Psychologist are here to care for you. We pride ourselves on offering unparalleled medical care through collaboration, education and the use of cutting edge treatment and diagnostic techniques.
Certified Athletic Trainers are educated in prevention, recognition, rehabilitation and on field management of athletic injuries. Additionally, all members of the UW athletic training staff are Washington State licensed Athletic Trainers and x-ray technicians. Through partnerships with Gatorade and DonJoy/DJO Global, UW Athletic Training enables athletes to stay on the field longer and perform to their highest potential.
The University of Washington's athletic department is located conveniently across the street from the University of Washington Medical Center, a top tier medical center since the early 1990's. One of the areas of specialty at the UWMC is orthopedics and sports medicine, allowing our staff unmatched access to leaders in the world of athletic health care.
While the University of Washington does not offer a direct route to certification as an athletic trainer, we do offer the opportunity to intern with and learn from our certified staff. Many of our matriculated interns go on to become physician's assistants, physical therapists, medical doctors, medical assistants, chiropractors, and even certified athletic trainers.
