Richey Plays In First U.S. Open Cup For Timbers U-23s
PORTLAND, Ore. - Current Washington goalkeeper Spencer Richey played in his first Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup for the Portland Timbers U-23s Tuesday night. Richey had the start at goal and made three saves against a tough PSA Elite team from the U.S. Adult Soccer Association.
The Timbers U-23s attempted 26 shots against PSA Elite, creating several scoring chances throughout the match. Unfortunately, the Timbers U-23s were eliminated from their first U.S. Open Cup appearance after losing 3-1 before 1,524 fans at JELD-WEN Field. The Timbers U-23s return to Premier Development League play Saturday as they play host to the Victoria Highlanders at Alder Creek Middle School in Milwaukie, Ore.; kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Tickets will be available for purchase at the gate.
