AT WASHINGTON
Drew Christmon is in his second year with the Huskies after most recent-ly completing a one-year stint as an assistant at the University of Kansas in 2000.
Christmon, a native of Oklahoma City, Okla., serves as the team's hitting coach in addition to assisting head coach Teresa Wilson in all administrative aspects of the program.
"Drew's expertise in hitting is something that is seldom seen in softball," Wilson said.
In his first year at the UW, Christmon helped the Huskies finish in the top 16 nationally in team batting average, slugging percentage and home runs.
In 2000, Christmon spent one season as an assistant under head coach Tracy Bunge at the University of Kansas. Prior to that, Christmon was the head softball coach at Gunn High School in Palo Alto, Calif., after completing a two-year stint as an assistant at Cal State Northridge.
"As an assistant coach, you always want to learn from the best and work with the best, which is the opportunity I have here at Washington under coach Wilson," Christmon said. "I plan on learning a lot as far as game tactics, discipline and team leadership, which have all been trademarks of this program's great success."
A 1999 graduate of Cal State Northridge with a degree in kinesiology, Christmon also served as an assistant softball coach at Stanford in 1996 and as an assistant for the Barry University softball team in Miami, Fla., in 1995.
Born June 8, 1972, Christmon played both football and baseball at the University of Oklahoma from 1990-92, before spending four years playing professional baseball with the Detroit Tigers organization from 1992 to 1995.
