Getting back on the right track was very important for our team as we headed down to California to play St. Mary's. After completing a very good week of training and fixing a couple kinks in our play we were determined to get the ball rolling again in our favorable direction. With only one match on the weekend it gave our team more time to prepare for a very critical match.
St. Mary's was not necessarily the most difficult team we would face this season but their direct style of play and strong athletic ability would be a handful. Our team had made two distinct goals for the match. The first was to lead at half time which we had not done in our previous two matches and the last goal was to dominate and win the second half of the match. We did both!
The defense was stellar as Ty Harden came back and Nick Loveless added his first goal for UW on a header from a long throw. Although we may have some of our inexperienced players in the back it still made the difference in the match and added a deserving boost of confidence to post our first shut out of season. Midfield was dominated by Evan and I with the support of our two forwards doing a brilliant job of holding the ball up front for us. The most important part of the match for our team was the boost of confidence as well as the momentum that we gathered that will carry us into our next road trip to Denver.
