Gordon O'Reilly is in his 11th year as an assistant coach for the Husky men's tennis team, his ninth under head coach Matt Anger. He brings a wealth of experience to the team, having worked in several areas of tennis instruction and coaching since 1980. O'Reilly was named the Region 8 Assistant Coach of the Year in 1998.
O'Reilly has worked as a tennis professional, director and coach in Florida, New England and Singapore, where he also conducted tennis vacations throughout Southeast Asia. He also competed and taught tennis in Australia, New Zealand and France. He earned circuit points in the Air New Zealand Satellite Circuit and was a singles semifinalist and doubles finalist in the Queensland Open Hard Courts Championships.
O'Reilly has coached former top-20 WTA players Michelle Torres and Lisa Bonder, as well as top-ranked World Junior player Susan Mascarin. He toured with Mascarin and helped her climb to her highest professional career ranking of No. 32 in singles and No. 59 in doubles. He also has developed and coached a number of juniors to sectional and national rankings.
In 1987, O'Reilly moved to Seattle to obtain his master's degree in psychology from Seattle University. He earned his bachelor's from Colgate in 1980. Along with clinical experience, he brings an avid interest in the application of psychology to competitive tennis as a complement to the Husky men's program.
