Julie Baker, another former Washington volleyball player, returns to her alma mater as an assistant coach this year.
Baker first enrolled at the UW in 1993, red-shirted her freshman season, and then went on to earn four varsity letters from 1994 to 1997. She helped the Huskies to reach the NCAA Tournament in three of her four seasons.
Her coaching duties will include heading up the team's academics program, and she'll also be actively involved in recruiting. On the court, Baker's primary responsibility will be hitting.
Baker has coached two years of club volleyball in the Seattle area, coaching 18 and 14-year olds. She was also active in coaching at camps during her playing career.
In 1997, Baker earned her bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts from the University of Washington. This past summer, she earned her Master's in Teaching degree from City University.
