Danna Durante is in her fifth season as an assistant coach for the Huskies. A gifted choreographer, she works with the Huskies to develop their beam and floor routines.
In 1999 she was recognized by her peers as the West Regional assistant coach of the year. During Durante's first season with the Huskies, her insight helped Washington to win the NCAA West Regional championship and go on to place seventh at the NCAAs.
A former All-Pac-10 performer at Arizona State, Durante received the Gertrude Peoples Award in 2000 among the Husky support staff for her distinguished service within the department.
Durante worked as an instructor at the Arizona Sunrays and for Royal (Fla.) Gymnastics the two years before joining the Husky program. She has been certified as a USAG Elite Level Judge.
A native of Tulsa, Durante was a captain while competing at Arizona State from 1992-95. She earned All-Pac-10 honors in 1992, 1994 and 1995. She held the ASU record on beam after turning in a five 10.00 performances during her career. Durante earned All-America honors for her beam routine in 1994. She was named to the Pac-10's All-Academic team in 1995. Durante was a two-time member of the United States Gymnastics Federation National team in 1988 and 1990. She was a qualifier for the 1998 Olympic Trials. She won top honors in the all-around in 1986 and 1987 at the South African Cup. During her career she competed internationally in Germany, France, Bulgaria and South Africa.
Durante graduated from Arizona State in 1995 with a bachelor of science degree in exercise science/exercise and wellness.
Durante, and her husband, Joe, reside in Bellevue with their daughter Samantha and son Jaxson.
