We just returned back to Seattle from my home town - Salt Lake City, Utah. For me this meet was extremely fun! Not only did I have many family members and friends watching, including my club gym there to support the Huskies, but as a team we hit 22 routines out of 24, earning our highest score since the 2005 season.
We started the meet off strong on bars. We missed having our strongest bar worker, Raimey, due to knee injury, but Joanne said, "Having Raimey go in for this surgery will be a good thing for her; she won't have to worry about problems later on."
We went to vault next, which we scored a 49.00, only .375 behind a nationally-ranked team. Floor was next, and the whole team worked the large crowd. Everyone enjoyed themselves while making each tumbling and dance bonus count. Beam has been a struggle in the past two meets, but this time the team hit.
The team was aggressive and they knew what they had to do this time. We know we can only get better from here. We will keep pushing in the gym, and like Joanne says, "How can we get better each day?"
We had two days of rest, then back in the gym. We wanted to have a really good practice to show how willing we are to improve. Everyone pushed themselves a little bit more. This team has new emotions to it, emotions that we carry out from practice and onto the competition floor. I couldn't imagine it any other way!
