Missy Strasburg returns to the northwest and enters her first season as volunteer assistant coach the University of Washington.
Strasburg spent the 2009 season as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she helped led the team to its fourth-straight Southern Conference Championship. Under her guidance, the Spartans went 13-7-0 and the season was highlighted by a win over then-ranked No. 10 Duke.
Prior to her time in North Carolina, Strasburg was in Seattle where she was the Administrative Director and a coach for the Evergreen Soccer Club in 2008. Strasburg was the Program Director and coach for the Spokane Shadow Youth Soccer Club from 2001-07. She led her teams to titles at the U.S. Club Soccer regional championships and the Nomads College Showcase in San Diego, Calif., as well as leading three different teams to the Super -Y League North American finals.
Strasburg also spent three seasons as the head coach at Riverside High School in Chattaroy, Wash., leading the squad to three straight state tournament appearances. She was named the Great Northern League Coach of the Year in 2003.
Strasburg, a Spokane native, was a four-year starter for Gonzaga University, and currently ranks ninth in school history in career assists and fifth in single-season assists. She graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and completed a Master's degree in Education in Intercollegiate Athletics Leadership from the University of Washington in June of 2010. She graduated from Mead High School in Spokane, Wash.
Strasburg currently holds a USSF "C" coaching license.
