SEATTLE -- No. 45 Washington (11-9, 3-6 Pac-12) will interrupt conference play on Saturday for a matchup with Sacramento State (10-12, 7-0 Big Sky). The Dawgs and Hornets will be in action at 11 a.m. at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
Washington is coming off a split last weekend in the Rocky Mountains. After falling 5-2 to Utah, the Dawgs bounced back to defeat Colorado, 5-2. The Dawgs won the doubles point and then four singles points on courts 3-6 to defeat the Buffaloes.
Washington has played well in doubles lately, led by No. 63 Elianne Douglas-Miron and Riko Shimizu. Against Colorado however, it was the teams at No. 2 and No. 3 that earned the Huskies the doubles point.
In singles, only Julija Lukac and Shimizu won both matches in the Rocky Mountains. Lukac leads Washington with 13 Washington wins.
Sacramento State is having a bit of a down season, although they are undefeated in the Big Sky. The Hornets are without a ranked player or doubles team this season. Rebeca Delgado leads Sacramento State, playing No. 1 singles.
Washington is 8-4 all-time against Sacramento State, including a 6-1 victory last season when the Hornets were ranked No. 49.
Following the match this weekend, the Huskies will return home to face archrival Washington State on Saturday, April 20, at noon. The match will be broadcast via tape delay on the Pac-12 Networks.
