SEATTLE - Two of the top college softball national teams in the world, the USA and Canada will play in the 40th Anniversary Title IX Softball Game on Saturday. The game will take place as the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City at 4 p.m. PT and air live on ESPN and ESPN3.com.
Soon-to-be Husky junior Victoria Hayward will continue to play with the Canadian National Team this summer and 2012 freshman Jocelyn Cater will be playing alongside her.
Fans can also watch Hayward and Cater in the Canadian Open Fastpitch in White Rock, B.C., Canada, July 4-9. They will play on the Senior National Team in the Women's International Division.
Sophomore's Kylee Lahners and Courtney Gano will also play in the Canadian Open Fastpitch in the Women's Elite Division with the Cal Activities. Their games start June 29. View the schedules for both teams here: http://www.canadianopenfastpitch.com/.
The Seventh World Cup of Softball runs June 28-30 and will air on ESPN in which Hayward and Cater will play with Canada. Both played in the World Cup with Canada last season. A second incoming freshman will also appear on TV next week as fans can get their first glimpse of Missy Taukeiaho on the CBS Sports Network. The Calif., native will be playing in the U-18 Fireworks Power Pool on June 27 at 1 p.m. in Aurora, Colo. Former Huskies Ashley Charters, Danielle Lawrie, Jenn Salling and Niki Williams are all playing for the USSSA Pride in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league this season. All of their games can be viewed live at www.usssapride.com/live. Their next game is Saturday afternoon in Florida.
Jennie McNeil was just invited to play in the Best of the Best American game in Westminster. The game will air on the CBS Sports Network on June 28 at 8 p.m.
