Hughes Ties For 92nd At British Amateur

AYRSHIRE, Scotland - Washington's Charlie Hughes fired a 1-over 72 in the second round of the 2012 British Amateur on Tuesday at Glasgow-Gailes Links to end stroke play tied for 92nd.
Hughes, who just wrapped up his junior year at UW, missed the match play cutline by two strokes.
Hughes fired his 72 a day after shooting 75 at Royal Troon on Monday. His combined score of 147 left him +5 for the tournament.
The top 64 golfers advanced to match play. Awaiting the Amateur Champion, exempt entry into this year's Open Championship at Royal Lytham & St Annes, next year's US Open and, traditionally, an invitation to the 2013 Masters Tournament.
A total of 288 competitors from 32 different countries teed it up in Scotland this week.
