Yang Advances To Match Play At US Publinx

NESHANIC VALLEY, N.J. - Washington's Jennifer Yang shot 3-over 75 in the second round of play at the U.S. Women's Public Links Championship on Tuesday to end up 4-over 148 after 36 holes of stroke play and advance to match play action at Neshanic Valley Golf Course.
Yang, who just completed her freshman season at Washington, ended stroke play tied for 54th and will play No. 11 seed Lee Lopez in match play action on Wednesday. The duo will tee off at 12:30 in New Jersey.
Yang fired 1-over 73 in Monday's first round and was cruising on Tuesday before a double bogey on her final hole made her wait in the clubhouse as other finished tense. Yang, from British Columbia via Korea, ended up one stroke ahead of the cut.
The round of 64 will be played Wednesday, the rounds of 32 and 16 on Thursday, followed by the quarterfinals and semifinals on Friday. The last two competitors standing will battle head-to-head on Saturday.
Brittany Tallman tied for 11th at the 103rd Oregon Women's Amateur Championship. The UW senior to be ended up 15-over 159 after 36 holes at Tualitin Country Club to finish 15 shots behind the winner Gigi Stoll. Tallman shot 79 and 80.
