Men's Golf 4th After First Round Of ASU Thunderbird Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. - After the first of two rounds on Friday, Washington stood fourth in the 17 team field of the ASU Thunderbird Invitational.
The Huskies combined to shoot even-par 284 in the morning. The second round was scheduled to start as soon as all teams finished their first rounds.
California shot 8-under 276 to lead BYU by four strokes after the first round.
Cheng-Tsung Pan led the UW five with a 3-under 68 at the 7,026-yard, par-71 Karsten Golf Course on the campus of Arizona State. He had four birdies during the round and just one bogey. Pan is tied for 7th.
Charlie Hughes was the only other Husky under par, firing a 70. Hughes was bogey free and -3 through 14 holes before back-to-back bogeys put him at 1-under, where he would finish his round.
Chris Williams shot 71, Trevor Simsby 75 and Larry Iverson 84.
Williams was behind the eight-ball out of the gate after a double-bogey on his second hole of the round. He was able to fight back and get to as low as -1 through 16 holes, but a bogey on his 17th hole put him back to even par.
