Huskies Load Up On MPSF Academic Awards

WOODLAND, Calif. - A total of 23 Husky student-athletes earned All-Academic recognition today by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, which is Washington's affiliated conference for the indoor track and field season.
To earn All-Academic recognition, an athlete must carry at 3.00 cumulative grade point average or higher, be in their second year of residence at the current institution, and be a significant contributor who participated in at least half of the team's competitions.
Fifteen Husky women earned All-Academic honors, tying for the most in the conference along with Stanford and Washington State. Four Huskies carried above a 3.60 GPA, including high jumper Alice Verhovek (3.73), pole vaulter Taylor Fjeran (3.72), distance runner Alison Linnell (3.71), and middle distance runner Justine Johnson (3.61).
The Husky men had eight selections, third-most in the conference behind Stanford and Arizona State. Multi-event specialist Jeremy Taiwo led the way with a 3.66 grade point average and NCAA Indoor Pole Vault Champion Scott Roth was recognized with a 3.35 GPA.
