Carlson Named Gohuskies.com Student-Athlete Of The Week

SEATTLE - Jordan Carlson of the women's track and field team is the Gohuskies.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of April 25-May 1. This is the sixth such honor for the track and field team this season.
The junior from Spokane, Wash., broke the school record in the 400-meter dash, as she won in a time of 54.18 seconds to surpass Lauran Dignam's mark of 54.31 from 2006.
Prior to April 15, it had been five years since a Husky woman had broken 55-seconds. Carlson did that with a 54.74 run at Mt. SAC. Although she said afterwards that she didn't feel as fast today, her time of 54.18 seconds told the story.
"Jordan Carlson breaking our school record was a big time highlight. The old school record by Lauran Dignam was set in the dual meet in Pullman," Metcalf said.
Other nominees include: Joe Meggs (baseball), Chris Williams (men's golf), Matt Stith (men's tennis), Maurice McNeal (men's track and field), Samantha Smith (women's tennis) and Kaitlin Inglesby (softball).
