Chris Izbicki Q&A

April 14, 2009
One of the names consistently mentioned among Coach Steve Sarkisian's top performers in spring practice is Chris Izbicki. The tight end from nearby Kirkland is showing a lot of promise this spring as he battles for a position at the top of the depth chart. GoHuskies.com's Michael Jeremiah talked to Izbicki recently about working hard to make an impression and other things about spring football.
GoHuskies.com: How do you feel about practice so far, especially as it gets to get hotter?
Chris Izbicki: We've had a few rough practices already so everyone is a little banged up. It's been a little hotter so a little slower tempo but it was good. I think people enjoy coming out and playing in the sun.
GH.com: How do you feel that you are adjusting to the new coaching staff? Do you think you are picking the new system up?
CI: Yeah, I'm picking it up really well. I was actually surprised at how well I'm flowing with the plays and stuff. There's a lot of new stuff to learn but I feel like I'm getting acclimated really well.
GH.com: With the adversity you've faced in the past, what does the strong performance you are having in camp mean to you?
CI: It's awesome. I'm out here enjoying myself and just trying to impress the coaches as much as I can. I'm really having a good time and it feels good to be back playing football again.
GH.com: Does being a local kid make being a Husky even better?
CI: Definitely. I was just talking to my dad. He's out at every practice. It's fun to play in front of the local fans.
