200 Yard Medley Relay NCAA Champion: Auburn (Scott Goodrich, David Maras, Alexei Puninski, Cesar Cielo), 1:23.24
Auburn's time of 1:23.24 is a new NCAA and US Open record
This was the exact same relay team that owned the previous record of 1:23.37, which they set at the NCAA Championships in 2007
Maras, the breaststroker, broke a bone in his elbow in January and was not expected to compete. NCAAs was his first competition since the injury
400 Yard Individual Medley NCAA Champion: Alex Vanderkaay (Michigan), 3:41.58
This was Vanderkaay's second consecutive NCAA Championship in the 400 IM
He is the first Wolverine to win NCAA titles in consecutive years since his brother, Peter Vanderkaay, won the 500 free in 2005 and 2006
100 Yard Butterfly NCAA Champion: Albert Subirats (Arizona), 45.07
This is Subirats second NCAA title of this year's meet (he was part of the 400 Yard Medley Relay squad that won yesterday)
He is a senior captain of the Wildcats and a prospect for the Venezuelan Olympic team
200 Yard Freestyle NCAA Champion: Dave Walters (Texas), 1:32.56
This was Walters first NCAA title
He became Texas's first NCAA 200 free champion in 15 years
He is the Longhorns' first NCAA Champion sine 2006
100 Yard Breaststroke NCAA Champion: Paul Kornfeld (Stanford), 52.03
This is Kornfeld's first NCAA title
He finished second in the 100 breast last season at the NCAAs
100 Yard Backstroke NCAA Champion: Ben Hesen (Indiana), 44.72
This is Hesen's first NCAA Championship
Hesen's title was Indiana's first since 1976 (when Jim Montgomery won the 100 and 200 free
3 Meter Diving NCAA Champion: Rueben Ross (Miami), 466.80
This is Ross's first NCAA Championship
His 466.80 points is a new NCAA Meet record (besting the previous total of 460.95)
At the 2007 NCAA Championships, Ross took eight place in the one-meter springboard and fourth place in the 10-meter platform. Yesterday, he placed sixth in the one-meter finals
800 Yard Freestyle Relay NCAA Champion: Arizona (Jean Basson, Darian Townsend, Joel Greenshields, Nicolas Nilo), 6:12.85
The winning time of 6:12.85 is a new NCAA meet record (besting the previous record of 6:14.14 set by Arizona at the NCAA Championships in 2007 - a team that included Nilo, Basson and Townsend)
This is the second title won by Arizona tonight and the fourth of the 2008 NCAA Championships (the Wildcats also won the 400 Yard Medley Relay and the 200 Yard Individual Medley)
