Stanback, Goldson Drafted In Fourth Round

Former Husky quarterback Isaiah Stanback was selected by the Dallas Cowboys while former safety/cornerback Dashon Goldson was chosen by San Francisco today, on the second day of the annual NFL Draft.
Stanback, a product of Garfield High in Seattle, was the Huskies' starting quarterback the last two seasons. He saw his college career come to an end midway through the 2006 season when he suffered a major foot injury in the Oregon State game.
Sunday, the Cowboys made Stanback the fourth pick of the fourth round of the draft, the 103rd overall pick. He was the seventh quarterback taken in the draft and was Dallas' third selection as the Cowboys did not have a second-round pick.
Goldson, who played three years at the UW after transferring from Coffeyville (Kans.) CC, was drafted by the 49ers later in the fourth round, with the 126th overall selection.
Last season, Goldson suffered through a season-long ankle injury, but still played in 11 of 12 games. In 33 career games, he collected 174 tackles and four interceptions.
Stanback's entry into the NFL continues a recent tradition of Husky quarterbacks playing in the league. Dating back to Hall of Famer Warren Moon, who completed his UW career in 1977, the Huskies have sent 12 quarterbacks to the NFL: Moon, Tom Flick, Steve Pelluer, Hugh Millen, Chris Chandler, Cary Conklin, Billy Joe Hobert, Mark Brunell, Damon Huard, Brock Huard, Marques Tuiasosopo and Cody Pickett. Additionally, former Husky QB-turned-receiver Eric Bjornson played tight end in the NFL.
Stanback, who was also taken by the Baltimore Orioles in last June's Major League Baseball draft, completed his Husky football career having completed 269-of-523 passes for 3,868 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also rushed for 794 yards and 11 TDs during his time with the UW.
