FINAL ROUND QUOTES
UCLA'S TIFFANY JOH - PAC-10 CHAMPION
OVERALL
"I was just taking one hole at a time, but honestly Anna is a phenomenal player. I actually have a picture on my desktop background of my computer that she is in. She is just someone that is such a great player and I wouldn't have honestly thought that I had a chance today. A few things just didn't go her way."
ON WINNING "To win a tournament you don't have to be the best player in the field, you just have to be the best player that week."
ON PLAYOFFl "I was on such an emotional high from the putt that I made on 18, I was just happy to have this opportunity to be in contention again. It's been a long, long drought since I have been anywhere near the leader. That feeling is something that I should relish, just getting to that position is a blessing."
ON 18th HOLE PUTT TO PUSH PLAYOFF "I was just thinking left to right, three cups outside the left. That's about it. I wasn't really nervous; it felt like any other left to right putt."
ARIZONA STATE'S ANNA NORDQVIST - PAC-10 RUNNER-UP
OVERALL
"I had my chances on the last hole, but I just was unable to get it done. There is nothing that I can do about it. She (Tiffany) had a really great 18 holes today."
ON WINNING PAC-10 PLAYER AND FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
"I am really happy. I had a great year, but you never know what is going to happen. I had a good year and I am glad."
ON FIRST COUPLE HOLES
"I was playing pretty well early, but then I had a hole that I ended up double bogeying on and you can't do that. There was another bogey later and a bunker problem."
ON PLAYING WITH LEAD
"It is a lot of pressure, but I like pressure."
ARIZONA STATE HEAD COACH MELISSA LUELLAN
ON ANNA NORDQVIST
"Anna is very disappointed with how she played today. To shoot a 78 and still have a chance to play for the title is kind of cool. I thought that she played so well the entire tournament, but this was a tough course and it got her. She missed it at the wrong place and she ended up making a double for quite a turning point. She has just had a great year and she has only won once. I think she has something like five second place finishes. The Pac-10 Championship is important to her, but there is another one that is important to her as well."
ON TEAM'S PLAY "I am very pleased with our performance. The scores are actually higher than what we normally shoot, because the golf course is a big challenge here. Our top four are really solid and they played well all year long. They are so confident and we love the camaraderie of our team. They are all a team and they are all a unit that has been really focused all year long."
WASHINGTON HEAD COACH Mary Lou Mulflur
ON THE SEASON
"We put ourselves in a bad position all year. We just didn't' play very well this year, but we have nobody to blame but ourselves."
ON THE TOURNAMENT
"After yesterday, realistically we knew that we had a shot at third. We were only eight shots behind and in golf that's only two shots a person. Today we started out alright, but I don't know if we ran out of gas or what. We just couldn't finish. You have to get that help from the bottom and that really hurt us."
Our freshmen, Christina especially, came in here for their first conference championship. She is learning how to play the game and that is going to help her down the road. We learned a lot about our freshmen and they are a good group that is going to continue to get better. I am really excited about the future."
ON SENIOR Amber Prange
"She really did a nice job and it's hard to see someone's potential last round not be very good. It was a little frustrating. She has been a nice addition to our team and you always miss your seniors when it is time for them to leave. She is the kind of person that will do well no matter what she does. I am happy that she was able to be a part of our team; it's just hard when they leave."
