Lincecum Named Pac-10 Pitcher Of The Year

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington junior Tim Lincecum was named the Pac-10 Baseball Pitcher of the Year today while Huskies Zach Clem, Matt Hague and Curt Rindal were all named to the All-Pac-10 first team.
Lincecum, from Renton's Liberty High, was also named the conference's Pitcher of the Year as a freshman in 2004. This season, the right-hander finished the season 12-4 with a 1.94 earned run average. In his 125.1 innings, he allowed only 75 hits and struck out 199 batters. His 12 wins are third-most in the nation and he easily leads the NCAA with his 199 strikeouts. He set school records for season and career wins, season and career strikeouts and is the Pac-10's career strikeouts lead with 491.
Clem, a senior outfielder from Burlington, Wash., led the Huskies with 20 homers in 2006, most in the Pac-10. He batted .304 with a team-high 53 runs batted in. Clem was also named to the first team as a sophomore in 2004.
Hague, a sophomore from Kent, and Rindal, a junior from Mt. Vernon, both were named to the first team for the first time. Hague, the Huskies' right fielder, led the team in batting with his .381 average. He also had a team-high 86 hits, 53 runs and eight stolen bases to go with 17 doubles, six homers and 45 runs batted in. Rindal, a first baseman, batted .350 with 10 homers and 48 runs batted in. He led the team with 21 doubles.
Additionally, UW sophomore reliever Elliott Cribby (Redmond, Wash.) and junior catcher Matt Lane (Port Angeles, Wash.) earned honorable mention. Cribby was 7-6 with a 3.76 ERA and 10 saves while Lane batted .268 with 12 homers and 43 RBI.
