Clem Named Pac-10 Player Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington senior outfielder Zach Clem has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Baseball Player of the Week and UCLA junior left-handed pitcher Dave Huff has been named Pitcher of the Week for Apr. 18 - 24, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Clem, from Burlington, Wash., went 5-for-13 (.385) with two home runs, a double, a triple, four runs scored and five runs batted in during the Huskies' trip to then-No. 22 USC. Clem slugged for a 1.077 mark over the weekend, and with two walks had a .467 on-base average. He also stole a base and threw a runner out on the basepaths from left field.
Huff, from Huntington Beach, Calif., earned his second-consecutive complete game win on Saturday against No. 10 Arizona State. Huff gave up one run on two hits with six strikeouts and retired the final 22 of 23 Sun Devils he faced in the game. The junior left-hander limited ASU to a season-low tying two hits with only two walks allowed, as the Sun Devils batted a collective .074 (2-for-27) in the game. On the season, Huff is 5-2 with a 2.85 ERA and striking out 83 batters in 88 1/3 innings pitched. Huff has tossed 9.0 innings in three of his last four starts, and is 4-0 in his last seven starts.
The Player of the Week honor is the fourth of Clem's career, while it is the 52nd such honor for Washington. The Pitcher of the Week honor is the first for Huff, and the 40th selection all-time for UCLA.
