Dowling, Rundle Honored For Academics

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Senior pitcher David Dowling was named to the Pac-10's All-Academic baseball second team and senior second baseman Mike Rundle earned honorable mention, the Pac-10 Conference office announced today.
Dowling, a left-hander from Kirkland's Juanita High School, boasts a 3.31 grade point average in economics. During the past season, he posted a 6-1 record and a 4.32 earned run average in 21 mound appearances.
Rundle, a native of Bend, Ore., and a transfer from Gonzaga, was the Huskies' starting second baseman throughout much of his lone season on the UW team. The business major finished with a .232 batting average and was a major factor in the Huskies leading the nation in fielding percentage during the regular season.
Following are the complete 2005 All-Academic teams for baseball, as announced today by Commissioner Tom Hansen. To be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
