Mackenzie Places 13th at U.S. Women's Open

Cherry Hills Village, CO - Washington senior Paige Mackenzie, of Yakima, tied for 13th at the U.S. Women's Open held at Cherry Hills Golf Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colo. Mackenzie was the third-highest finishing amateur at the event. Thanks to her top-20 finish, she received an exemption to this year's U.S. Amateur and into next year's U.S. Women's Open.
Mackenzie had rounds of 75, 75, 69 and 74 to for a 72-hole total of 9-over 293. She was six strokes behind tournament champion Birdie Kim, who won by one stroke at 287.
Mackenzie's 13th-place showing would have earned her $61,402 if she were a professional player. This year she placed 10th at the NCAA Championships to become the first Husky to earn a top-10 finish at the national championships.
