UW Women's Golfers Go International in 2005-06 Season

Seattle - The road back to the NCAA Championships for the Washington women's golf team will be a familiar one next season. The Huskies will host the NCAA West Regional Championship May 11-13 as part of a challenging schedule announced today.
The Huskies open their 2005-06 schedule in Japan Sept. 6-8 when they will compete in the Topy Cup. It is the first of two international events for the team. March 6-8 the Huskies will play in a Collegiate Invitational in Guadalajara, Mexico. Washington plays host to its only regular-season home tournament, the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, Oct. 10-12 at Sahalee Country Club.
Washington will return to the National Match Play Championship in Orlando Nov. 11-13. The Huskies make another trek to the south in March when the play at the Georgia Invitational.
The 2006 Pac-10 Championships are slated for April 24-26 at Oro Valley in Tucson. The 2006 NCAA Championship are slated for May 23-26 at Ohio State's Scarlet Course.
Washington returns all five of the players who participated in this year's NCAA Championship where the Huskies finished 14th. Two other letterwinners are also back in addition to one incoming freshman. Washington's Paige Mackenzie became the first UW player to post a top-10 finish at the NCAAs when she placed 10th this year. The Huskies finished 10th in Golfweek's final poll. It marked the first time in the program history's that UW was ranked in the top-10 all season.
