Huskies Climb to Fifth at PING/ASU Invitational

Tempe, AZ - The eighth-ranked Washington women's golf team moved up four spots to fifth place after the second round of play at the PING/ASU Invitational at the Sun Devils' Karsten Golf Course. The Huskies shot 5-over 293 Saturday for a 36-hole total of 598. UCLA continues to lead the field at 578 while Arizona State is second at 582.
Husky junior Paige Mackenzie shot 3-under 69 during the second round and is tied for UCLA's Amie Cochran at 2-under 142. They trail Arizona State's Louise Stahle, the tournament leader, by four strokes. UCLA's Susie Mathews is second at 140.
Sunday Mackenzie will attempt to complete her first tournament under par this year. She shot even-par 210 at the Stanford Intercollegiate and was 1-over at the Spartan Invitational.
Husky sophomore Amber Prange is 35th at 152 after carding a 77 Saturday. Sung Ea Lee, who also shot 77 during the second round, is 40th at 153. Kim Shin rebounded from a poor opening round to shoot 72 and move up to 51st at 155. Ashley Bickerton is one stroke behind her in 60th place.
