Husky Golfers 12th at PING/ASU Invitational

Tempe, AZ - The Washington women's golf team is in 12th place after the first 18 holes of competition at the PING/Arizona State Invitational at the Karsten Golf Course in Tempe. The Huskies shot 17-over 305 and stand 13 strokes behind Texas, New Mexico and Stanford, who are tied for first at 4-over 292.
Washington sophomore Bianca Clark turned in an opening round score of 2-under 70 to tie with three other players for second place. Clark is competing as an individual, and is not one of the five designated Husky players whose score will count towards Washington's team total. Clark's round is a personal best, four strokes better than her previous top performance.
Arizona's Lorena Ochoa leads the field at 4-under 68. Also tied with Clark for second place is Tulsa's Stacy Prammanasudh, New Mexico's Kailin Downs and California's Vikki Laing.
Washington's top scoring player is Louise Friberg, who shot 74 to tie for 26th. Other Huskies scores include a 76 by Lindsay Morgan, a 77 by Paige Mackenzie, a 78 by Kelli Kamimura and a 79 by Michelle Grafos.
The tournament resumes Saturday and the final 18 holes will be played on Sunday.
