Husky Golfers Finish 6th at Pac-10 Championships

Corvallis, OR - The 11th-ranked Washington men's golf team moved up one spot to finish sixth at the Pac-10 Championships played at Oregon State's Trysting Tree Golf Club. The Huskies shot 366 on Saturday to finish at 1476 for the 72-hole tournament that featured five-man scoring. Southern California shot 356 during the final round to win the title at 1441, 15 strokes ahead of second-place Stanford. The Cardinal and Oregon State led the tournament heading into the final 18 holes, but Stanford shot 373 and the Beavers carded a 375 on Saturday.
Stanford's Jim Seki won medalist honors with a 4-under score of 284. He led the tournament from the opening round. USC's Kevin Stadler and Stanford's Philip Rowe tied for second at 285. Washington sophomore Brock Mackenzie shot 2-over 74 on Saturday to finished tied for seventh at 289. It was Mackenzie's 10th top-10 finish this year in 13 tournaments.
Washington sophomore Dan Potter recorded the Huskies' best score on Saturday with a 69 to finish 19th at 293. John Robertson was 23rd at 294, Corey Prugh was 40th at 301, Derek Berg was 47th at 305 and Conner Robbins was 56th at 311.
After falling to 10th place after the first 36 holes, Washington's combined scores over the final two rounds were the best in the tournament (728) except or eventual champion USC (725).
The Huskies will compete at an NCAA Regional site May 16-18. Regional bids will be announced in one week.
