June 29, 2001
INDIANAPOLIS - March Madness will return to Seattle in 2004 as the University of Washington was selected to host first- and second-round NCAA Tournament games, the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee announced Friday.
Four first-round tournament games are scheduled for March 18, 2004 at KeyArena in downtown Seattle. There will be two second-round games played on March 20, 2004.
The men's basketball tournament returns to Seattle for the first time since 1999 when first- and second-round games were contested at KeyArena. The Kingdome served as the venue for three Final Fours, in 1984, 1989 and 1995, and housed the West Regionals in 1987, 1988, 1990 and 1993.
The Huskies hosted the Final Four on campus at Edmundson Pavilion in 1949 and 1952.
Ticket information for the 2004 championships is not currently available and will be announced the year prior to the competition.
