UW Women's Golf Moves to 19th at NCAA West Regional

TEMPE, Ariz.-The Washington women's golf team combined for a team-total of 298 in the second round of the West Regional, topping yesterday's first-round score by 23 strokes. Junior Elisha Au paced the Husky comeback after firing a 1-under mark of 71. Washington will need to finish at least eleventh to continue as a team to the national tournament.
Arizona took over the lead with Tulsa sliding down to ninth place in round two. The Wildcats lead by nine over San Jose State with a score of 580. UCS is in third place with a two-round, 17-over total of 593.
At the top of the individual field is ASU's Miriam Nagl, who took 68 strokes in round two for total of 139. USC's Candie Kung shot a 65 in round two and shares the number two slot with Rebecka Heinmert of San Jose State. Kung's score of 65 tied the Karsten course record which was set first by Vicki Goetze of Georgia in 1992 and a second time by Vinny Riviello of ASU in 1996.
The teams will meet for a final round of 18 holes tomorrow.
