UW Women Head to Tempe for West Regional Golf Tournament

COMING UP: The 24th-ranked Washington women's golf team is gearing up for a chance at bettering last year's 12th-place finish. The Huskies are hoping to earn a trip to the NCAA Championship after a technicality kept them at home in 1999. Washington will compete as the 10th seed in the Far West District at the West Regional, which takes place at Arizona's par-72, 6,131-yard Karsten Golf Course. Teams will play three 18-hole days beginning on Thursday, May 11 at 7:30 a.m. Pacific time.
THE FIELD: The West Regional includes 11 teams and two individuals from the West District, and 13 teams and four individuals from the Far West District. The teams are competing for 11 team and three individual NCAA Championship berths. The teams are as follows: No. 1 Arizona, No. 3 USC, No. 4 Arizona State, No. 6 Pepperdine, No. 7 Stanford, No. 9 Oklahoma State, No. 10 New Mexico State, No. 11 San Jose State, No. 14 UCLA, No. 15 Texas, No. 16 New Mexico, No. 17 Tulsa, No. 22 Oklahoma, No. 23 TCU, No. 25 California, No. 26 Oregon, No. 27 Nebraska, No. 31 Missouri, No. 33 Washington, No. 34 Baylor, No. 35 Texas Tech, No. 45 Oregon State, No. 48 Brigham Young and No. 49 Washington State. Individual qualifiers include Kristen MacLaren of UTEP, Jordan Lintz of Wyoming, Angie Yoon of Nevada, Acey Erlandson of Boise State, Emilie Arnaud of San Francisco and Heather Rollo of San Diego State. LAST TIME: The Washington women's golf team finished the final round of the Pac-10 Championship in eighth place with a team-total of 918. Arizona claimed the conference title with a three-round score of 883 and Stanford was in next with 901. USC's Candie Kung hung on for a victory with a score of 218. Wildcat Jenna Daniels shot the lowest round of the day, a 68, but finished one stroke back from Kung. Husky junior Elisha Au finished tied for sixth after taking a total of 222 strokes in the competition, and collected her third top-10 finish of the season. Sophomore Kelli Kamimura had the next lowest score for Washington, finishing with a 32nd-place score of 233.
