Husky Men's Golfers Tied for Seventh

SANTA CRUZ, Calif.-The Washington men's golf team is tied for seventh with BYU at the 54th annual Western Intercollegiate. Both teams shot a two-round total of 573 over the par 70, 6,445-yard Pasatiempo Golf Course. Fresno State leads the competition after taking 551 strokes on day one. The Bulldogs' first round score of 266 tied the national low score of the year, set by Oklahoma State earlier in the 1999-2000 season.
Pepperdine's Jason Allred fired an impressive 66-63 to lead the tournament. For the Huskies, sophomore Gordy Scutt had the lowest score, finishing the day in ninth place with a score of 140.
Washington sophomore Troy Kelly is in 26th place after shooting a 72 in both rounds, while freshman Derek Berg is in next for the Huskies with a score of 145. Senior Scott Kral shot a 147, and freshman John Robertson finished rounds one and two with 148 strokes.
