UW Women Head to Eugene for Pac-10 Championships

COMING UP: The Washington women's golf team will compete in the Oregon-hosted Pac-10 Conference Championship April 24-26. Three rounds will be played over the Eugene Country Club Golf Course. Stanford took last year's team title, ending a two-year win streak for Arizona. Washington finished sixth in the event.
The teams will play 18 holes each day following a practice round on the Sunday before competition.
THE LINEUP: Washington will use the following lineup: 1. Kelli Kamimura, 2. Elisha Au, 3. Michelle Grafos, 4. Louise Friberg, 5. Andrea Cordova, Individual: Mendy Cooper.
THE FIELD: The first round of competition will be played in a three-flight pairing format. The teams were seeded by all 10 coaches, and flights were decided by blind draw as follows:
Flight 1: USC, Washingotn, California
Flight 2: Arizona State, Stanford, Oregon State
Flight 3: Arizona, UCLA, Oregon, Washington State
LAST TIME: The Washington women's golf team took co-champion honors, along with Southern California, at the Stanford-hosted California Collegiate, April 15-16. Both teams shot a team-total 602 in the two-round competition. The first-place finish is Washington's highest of the season since a fourth-place finish at New Mexico State's Roadrunner Invitational in early November. UCLA's Amanda Moltke-Leth claimed individual medalist honors after shooting 144 in two days over the Stanford Golf Course. USC's Candie Kung tied with Washington sophomore Kelli Kamimura after both women fired a second-place 146. Kamimura's second-place finish met her highest of the season and marked her fourth top-10 appearance of her sophomore year. Junior Elisha Au added a second top-10 appearance of the season with a seventh-place total of 150, and freshman Michelle Grafos (Spokane/Central Valley HS) made her top-10 debut, finishing in ninth place after carding a 151. The Huskies have combined for seven individual top-10 finishes during the 1999-2000 campaign, three of them in this tournament.
