Women's Tennis Team, Individuals Earn Honors
August 4, 1998
SEATTLE -- The Washington womens tennis team earned a spot on the Intercollegiate Tennis Associations All-Academic Team for the second straight year by achieving a cumulative team grade point average of 3.2 or above. The Huskies earned that distinction for the 1997 season as well.
Also, seniors Kori Sosnowy and Erica Stoloff were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for the second consecutive year and were joined this season by senior Kari Luna. In order to win that award, a player must be either a junior or senior in school, must be a varsity letterwinner, and must have a grade point average of at least 3.5.
First-year coach Patty Fendick led the Huskies to a 12-8 overall record in 1998 and a berth into the NCAA West Regional tournament. She also coached freshman Kristina Kraszewski to attain UWs first-ever womens tennis All-America certificate. Four of the top six singles players return for the 1998-99 season.
