Kamimura, Au Lead UW After Fall Play
November 30, 1998
Washington had its best fall in the history of the program, finishing the season ranked No. 13 in the Mastercard Golf Rankings. The Huskies averaged under 303 strokes per round through four tournaments tand notched top-10 finishes in all four events, including a victory in the Northwest Invitational. Twice this season, Washington has shot under 900, a feat unaccomplished by last season's squad. The Huskies won the Northwest Invitational with a 899, defeating Pepperdine by a stroke followed by a third-place finish in the competitive Stanford Intercollegiate.
Washington is led by the play of freshman Kelli Kamimura and sophomore Elisha Au. Kamimura is ranked 13th in the latest Mastercard Golf Poll and third in the Golfstat Cup Rankings with a 72.89 scoring average after nine rounds. In her second tournament of the season, Kamimura was defeated in a one hole play-off for the tournament championship. Au is ranked 31st in the Golfstat Cup Rankings after finishing the fall with a 74.83 stroke average. She was the co-champion in Washington's third place finish at the Stanford Intercollegiate. Kamimura and Au are on pace to finish first and second on Washington's all-time stroke average list, respectively.
